Piano Tastings Ep. 3: European Gems

A taste of Europe in this episode!

It's startling to realize how deprived we Americans are when it comes to pianos compared to our European counterparts. How many European piano makers can you name? Unless you're a professional who has performed or worked in Europe, you probably haven't heard about the two makers we're featuring in this episode: Schimmel (from Germany) and Estonia (from Estonia, of course!).  We typically play the same piece on two pianos to help recognize the color differences between them, but I was so inspired by the distinctive characteristics of these two 7-foot models that I was inspired to play pieces that I thought would best emphasize their different voices. The Schimmel is on the darker side of the palette, while the Estonia features a crisp sparking tone. Check out the comparison in the video and let me know which one you like best!
